Former Principal of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya(1995-2003) Mr. R.S. Rajapaksha has passed away on 14th of July, 2014, aged 71, following a brief period of illness. "His remains will be kept at the Main Hall, Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Panniptiya from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. and cortege will leave the school for cremation at Public Cemetery Digana Pelenwatta."

Principal of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya Mr.K.G.Wimalasena alomg with 20 other S.L.E.A.S. Class I officers has been cormmissioned in the rank of Colonel in Sri Lanka Cadet Corps by H.E/Mahinda Rajapaksha, The President A felicition ceremony organized by the School staff, Past Pupils and Perrents was held at school on 10th October, which coinsided his 51st birthday

Former Principal of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya(1995-2003) Mr. R.S. Rajapaksha has passed away on 14th of July, 2014, aged 71, following a brief period of illness.
Mr. Rajapaksha who hailed from down south in the village of Deniyaya in Galle District, had been serving in the education field which spanned nearly forty years in several capacities as a teacher, an education officer and a principal.
Mr. R.S. Rajapaksha assumed duties as the Principal of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya in 1995 and continued to hold the post until his retirement in 2003. During his tenure as the principal of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, he was able to improve academic as well as physical standard of the school. Being a nature lover, he paid a particular attention to the environmental development of the school and was instrumental in improving the school environment in a nature friendly manner.
Another salient feature of his administrative style was that he always believed and acted on the principle of decentralization of administration in the school management. An admirer of aesthetics, arts and literature, he personally took an interest in the improvement of aesthetics education and also the improvement of the artistic and literary activities of the pupils in whatever possible manner. With the help of his able deputies and other sectional heads, and also the teachers Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya, was seen sailing smoothly during the period he was giving leadership to it.
Mr. Rajapaksha leaves his beloved wife, and four children and many other close and affectionate admirers of him. His remains lies at his residence at 571/15/A, Maha Katuwana Road, Galawilawatte, Homagama and the funeral will take place on 17th July, 2014 at 6.00 p.m.
